World No.1 ranked female golfer Park Sung-Hyun of South Korea proved why she was the best in the world as she finished with a 74 in the third round to win the first The Country Club Ladies Invitational, which was held from March 6 to 8 at The Country Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The win for Park wasn’t without challenge however, as Filipina amateur standout Yuka Saso gave the top-ranked professional quite the scare, as she closed in on Park, even coming within one with just two holes remaining.
A double-bogey on the par-3 17th hole however, doomed Saso’s chances of scoring the monumental upset, as Park coasted to a seven-under win, with a 209 total.
Saso, an Asian Games Gold Medalist, finished with a 211 total, four short of Park’s winning tally.
Rounding out the top five are Filipinas Dottie Ardina (+3) and Princess Superal (+5), while Thailand’s Moonchu Pattaraporn, Supamas Sangchan, and Wannasiri Sirisampant were all tied for fifth at +8.
Park was impressive all throughout the three-day tournament, finishing the first round with with a 69, and followed up with an even more impressive 66.

The tournament win was a good way to celebrate her newly-inked sponsorship agreement with Solaire Resort and Casino.
